Villa Romboli is a historic Art Nouveau residence overlooking Bocca d’Arno, the port of Marina di Pisa, for the people of Marina di Pisa it was the home of the swallows, as Eleonora Duse wanted to call it who during a restoration ordered the swallows’ nests on the roof beams to be preserved . It is a building from the early 19th century, it was the alcove of Gabriele D’Annunzio and his beautiful muse, the aforementioned actress who loved to stay, among others.
Uninhabited since before the Great War, it has been completely restored and brought back to its former glory.
The works, which lasted 9 months, made it possible to safeguard as many of the villa’s original elements as possible, from the external friezes to the original floors and the frescoed vaults.
It is currently home to the sales office of the Marina Development Corporation, and houses an internal café open to the public.
